Robot Blueprints

Kindergartners discovered a different kind of printmaking as they stamped pieces of cardboard onto their paper.  We discussed how blueprints are plans for something you would like to build.  Each student created their own blueprint for a robot.  We put the lines stamped from our cardboard together to create shapes for our robots head, neck, arms and legs.  We they finished our robots by using recycled objects to stamp buttons, eyes and mouths!

Robots

Second Grade students discussed the importance of recycling.  We also learned how artists often recycled by using found objects in their work.  We viewed examples of recycled art from around the world.  Students then focused their attention on a few artists who used their recycled materials to create robots!    Feeling inspired, each student then designed their own robot which we carefully painted.  Students added highlights and shadow to give their creations a more realistic feel.  Finally details were added with sharpie and colored pencils.
